Cleveland E. Hicks, Sr., of the 900 block of Anna St., a retired rigger, died Jan. 29, 1995 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Hicks was born in Ahoskie, N.C. He retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hicks; three daughers, Bernice Joyner, Clarice Thomas and Helen Wilson; a son, Cleveland Hicks, Jr.; two sisters, Areather Wilson and Ivenia Ennis; three brothers, Johnnie Hicks, Jacobia Hicks and Rev. Otis Hicks; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Bute Street, by the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m.
