Eugene C. Watson, 66, of the 100 block of Watts Lane died Jan. 28, 1995.
Rev. Dr. Watson was born in Windsor, N.C. He was a minister of Peterson Chapel Baptist Church in Merry Hill and a member of Cedar Landing Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Bertie County commissioner. He was former pastor of several area churches, St. Elmo Baptist Church and St. Francis Baptist Church, both of Windsor, First Baptist Church of Severn, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Enfield, Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Winton. At the time of his death he was full-time pastor of Peterson Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Freeman Watson; one son, Cornell Watson, both of Windsor; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Watson; two grandchildren, Cornell Jr. and Brandon, all of Weldon; three aunts; six uncles.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Cedar Landing Baptist Church in Windsor. Burial will follow in the Freeman Family Cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home in charge.
