RUBY F. SCHUSS

Ms. Ruby Fuqua Schuss died Sunday, January 29, 1995, in the Pines Convalescent Center in Williamsburg, where she had been a resident since November 1993.

She was born in Back Bay, Princess Anne County, Virginia, on November 13, 1896, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Dudley and Eva Shipp Dudley. She graduated from Blackstone Normal School and taught many grades in a one-room school house in Princess Anne County. She was the widow of Delmoure John Fuqua of Richmond and William Schuss of Norfolk. Ms. Schuss was a member of many social, business and historical organizations in the Tidewater area. She was proudest of her affiliation with the DAR and the Hope-Maury Chapter of the UDC. She served as Past President of the latter. Ms. Schuss was also a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Norfolk and was a resident of the Lydia Roper House during the decade prior to her move to Williamsburg.

She is survived by her son, Dr. William C. Fuqua of Williamsburg; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Dudley Anderson of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren, William C. Fuqua, Jr. of Ithaca, N.Y., Johnathan S. Fuqua and Casey Katherine Fuqua, both of Baltimore, Md., and several nieces and nephews.
