Each year, about 1,300 dogs and cats are euthanized in Dare County because there are not enough homes for them. During seven years, one fertile dog or cat and their offspring can have as many as 4,372 babies. You can help reduce this problem by having your pet spayed or neutered.
Dare County Veterinarians have joined the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association's state-wide program ``SNIP'' - Spay, Neuter Improves Pets. Veterinarians will drop their spay and neuter fees by 20 percent from Feb. 13 through Feb. 24.
