NORA L. CHEEKS

Nora L. Cheeks, 82, of the 700 block of Madison St., Apt. (NU)201, died Jan. 28, 1995, in her home.

Mrs. Cheeks was born in Candor, N.C. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for more than 60 years, served on the Ladies Usher Board, Missionary Society and was a member of the Dorcas Bible Class. She was a member of J.R. Giddings and Jollifee Union of Tents and was the former wife of Benjamin Dean.

Survivors include a daughter, Lenora Dean, and a son, Benjamin Dean, both of Portsmouth; two sisters, Jessie C. Williams of Portsmouth and Nettie C. Riggins of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Crissie Cammon Ricks and John Cammon.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer, Sr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will be until 9:30 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. today. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
