RALPH BASNIGHT

Ralph Basnight, 69, of the 6200 block of Taylor Drive, a retired instrument mechanic, died Feb. 2, 1995, in Norfolk.

Mr. Basnight was born in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility NARF after 32 years and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Basnight; two daughters, Constance Leigh Allen and Rebecca Sue Chandler, both of Norfolk; a son, Donald J. Basnight, Sr. of Chesapeake; three sisters, Marjorie Mapp and Nellie Mae Basnight, both of Norfolk, and Anna Francis Twine of Grandy, N.C.; a brother, Lyman James Basnight of Chesapeake; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Donald Jr., Caitlin Basnight, Anthony Allen, Christopher, and Michael Chandler. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Wood Basnight.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Pullen. Burial will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
