HARRY E. TRENT JR.

Harry Elmer Trent Jr., 76, of the 3000 block of Old Mill Road, a retired Second Mate, died Feb. 1, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He was a native of Norfolk County and a member of the Mates & Pilots Union and Deep Creek Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He retired from the Merchant Marine, 32 years-Masters, and was a veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late Harry Elmer Trent Sr. and Emma Deal Trent.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby C. Trent; two daughters, Ann Trent Pitt and Leslie Allman, both of Virginia Beach; three stepchildren, Marvin Culpepper, Jr., Gayle Culpepper Hughes and Michael Culpepper; a sister, Dorothy Smither of Suffolk; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernie Myers and Dr. Roscoe A. Musselwhite. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideon Living Memorial Bibles. The family will receive friends at 3027 Old Mill Road. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
