U.S. factory orders climbed 1.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted $298.6 billion in December, led by transportation, the Commerce Department said.
The jump in factory orders is consistent with other indicators showing that manufacturing growth continues to chug along.
December durable goods orders were revised up slightly, to a gain of 1.5 percent from an initially reported gain of 1.4 percent. (Knight-Ridder Financial News) by CNB
