THE PARTIES ARE ALIKE

George Wallace probably put it better than anyone when, back in the '70s, he said there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between the two major parties, and I must emphatically state that I whole-heartedly concur.

The evidence mounts that the Republican Congress is gonna do business as usual. It sickens me to realize that all the trust that people placed in this so-called Contract With America is for naught. Gingrich, Dole and Co. have not the least intention of honoring pledges, which by the way is their duty to the American people anyway!

With each passing day the nausea builds. All across the board the Republicans are backing away from their promises. Almost to the letter, all of the revenue-sucking programs are gonna stay intact. Gingrich and Dole plan to rob the poor and elderly just so they can continue funding aid to illegal aliens, foreign aid, abortion, pornographic art, etc., at the expense of the homeless and needy right here in our own country. Think about it: Your money and mine going to foreign countries while we cut the legs out from under Social Security recipients!

Nineteen-ninety-four was probably the last time I'll ever vote.
