The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday:
PUBLIC HEARINGS
Consideration of alternative dates for real estate and personal property tax collection.
After hearing a total of eight speakers, four members of the council voiced concern over the change, saying the majority of their constituents did not support semi-annual tax collection. The council killed the proposal by not voting on it. They did, however, agree to further study changing the tax due date. No vote was taken.
A resolution approving the issuance of Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority Multi-family Mortgage Revenue Bonds, Series 1995A, for the Section 8 subsidized Huntington Village Apartments in Henrico County. Approved, 7-0
A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to add the relocated Armstead Road, which was altered by construction of Interstate 664, into the State Secondary Road System. Approved, 7-0
A resolution approving the local and major design features of Broad Street Bridge Project as presented at the Oct. 3, 1994, hearing and requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to acquire all rights-of-way necessary for this project and to convey it to the City of Suffolk. Approved, 7-0
To establish a City Council Work Session for Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 5:30 p.m. unless canceled. Approved, 7-0
