George Leonard Turner, Sr., 82, of the 3700 block of Knotts Creek Lane, a retired welding supervisor, died Feb. 4, 1995, in a Suffolk nursing home.
He was a native of Isle of Wight County, Va., a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple and the Suffolk Shrine Club and was past master of Churchland Masonic Lodge (NU)276. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lucille Turner; two sons, George L. ``Lynn'' Turner, Jr. of Franklin and Edmond ``Eddie'' Turner of Richmond; a sister, Fannie Mae Holland of Crittenden; three brothers, Joseph Turner and Benjamin Turner, both of Crittenden, Va., and George Turner of Carrollton; and two grandchildren, Jason Turner and Heather Turner.
A funeral with masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church by the Rev. Donald H. Seely and Clara P. Gestwick. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
