CAREER TRACK

ACCOUNTING

Ellen E. Nacey was promoted from a supervising senior tax specialist to a manager with KPMG Peat Marwick in Norfolk.

BANKING

The Virginia Beach Federal Savings Bank promoted John Reddecliff from first vice president/manager for real estate finance to senior vice president/senior lending officer. He oversees the real estate finance, business and professional banking, consumer lending and the asset workout and recovery functions. Reddecliff joined the bank in 1992.

The bank also promoted Michael J. Kos and William T. Morrison to first vice presidents. Kos works with the bank's business development. He joined Virginia Beach Federal in 1992 as a vice president in the real estate finance department.

Morrison joined the bank in 1992 as an account executive for real estate finance. He also serves as a senior credit officer, responsible for loan administration and credit review.

Susan Hunt was named president and chief executive officer with the Atlantic Fleet Federal Credit Union in Norfolk. The credit union operates four branches with about 53 employees. Hunt was vice president of retail with the Naval Air Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach.

Atlantic Fleet also appointed Agnes M. Parker marketing director. Parker was a marketing assistant with Naval Air.

EDUCATION

Janet E. Katz was named acting dean of the College of Arts and Letters for 1995-96 with Old Dominion University. She will assume the duties of Charles O. Burgess, who will retire June 30.

Katz joined the department of sociology and criminal justice at the university in 1979, serving as department chairman from 1990-1993. She also has served as director of the college's Office of Research Services and Women's Studies. She is associate dean of the College of Arts and Letters, a position she has held since 1993.

INSURANCE

Daniel L. Brannock was named general manager of Firestone Insurance Services and Colonial Premium Finance Co. in Newport News, subsidiaries of Henderson & Phillips Insurance in Norfolk.

Brannock, a certified public accountant, was controller with Henderson & Phillips.

LAW

Raymond H. Suttle Jr. was named a member of the law firm of Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly in Newport News. He practices in the areas of real estate, commercial law, and litigation. Suttle has been with the firm since 1988.

Eric W. Schwartz was elected to the board of directors with the Virginia College of Criminal Defense Attorneys. The statewide organization is dedicated to the improvement of the criminal justice system, and the protection of individual liberties.

Schwartz is a member of the business and commercial litigation practice group with the Norfolk law firm of Mays & Valentine.

HOSPITALITY

The Waterside Festival Marketplace in Norfolk promoted Christina E. Matthews from assistant marketing director to director of marketing, and Frances Harris from entertainment coordinator to assistant director of marketing.

MEDIA

Ray Witter was promoted to operations director/program coordinator with WGNT-TV in Portsmouth. Witter joined the television station in 1990 as film director.

MORTGAGES

Beach Fed Mortgage Corp., a subsidiary of Virginia Beach Federal Savings Bank, promoted Michael F. Hughes from production manager to senior production manager and Brennan M. Peterson from accounting operations supervisor to an assistant vice president/accounting manager.

Hughes joined the mortgage company last year as a loan officer. And Peterson, a certified public accountant, has held her previous position since 1993.

MID-ATLANTIC

Carey D. Ruppert was named manger of federal relations with Newport News Shipbuilding. In this role, she will work with the members of Congress on issues related to shipbuilding.

Ruppert, 39, joines Tenneco's government relations office in Washington from the staff of the House Committee on Armed Services, where her duties included legislative oversight and the development of legislation for inclusion in the annual National Defense Authorization bill.

She served as an officer in the Navy for more than 13 years, her last tour of duty as a legislative liaison officer, and currently is a commander in the Naval Reserves.

Tenneco Corp., a major diversified industrial corporation, is the parent of Newport News Shipbuilding.
