WALTER E. HOBBS

Walter Edward Hobbs, 62, of Route 1, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Hobbs was born in Gates County. A farmer, he was a member and deacon of Eureka Baptist Church. He had raised harness horses and was a member of the VA and N.C. Trotting and Pacing Assn.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Kraus Hobbs; two daughters, Jane Hobbs Chappell and Jennifer Anne Hobbs, both of Corapeake; one son, Edward Ray Hobbs of Corapeake; his mother, Ida Mae Riddick Hobbs of Corapeake; and one grandchild, Dillon Kyle Chappell. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ray Hobbs; a sister, Annie Rae Hobbs and a brother, James Ralph Hobbs.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Barrett Long. Burial will follow in the Riddick Family Cemetery, Hobbsville. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the home of his mother, Route 1, Corapeake. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad or the memorial fund of Eureka Baptist Church.
