Charles ``Charlie'' Bell Sr., 77, of the 800 block of Nixon Drive, a retired supervisor for Smithfield Packing Co., died Feb. 3, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bell was born in Morehead City, N.C. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Bell and James H. Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Erma M. Bell of Suffolk; two daughters, Kathleen B. Pittman and Grace Quinones, both of Suffolk; six sons, Charles Jr., Phillip, Ralph, Clinton, Steven and Michael Bell, all of Suffolk; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Metropolitan Baptist Church by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The body will be placed in the church Wednesday at 11 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at noon for the procession to the church.
