Mary S. Sheffield, 63, of the 2000 block of Columbo Ave., passed away Sunday afternoon in Maryview Hospital.
Mrs. Sheffield was born in Newport News, VA and was the daughter of Louise B. Sharps and the late Kenneth L. Sharps. She was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church where she served as organist for the past year. She was Guidance Coordinator at Cradock Middle School.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Don Sheffield; her mother, Louise B. Sharps; two daughters, Sherrye S. Pollard and Donna S. Wallace; two sons, David Sheffield and John Sheffield; and seven grandchildren, Cullen Wallace, Mary Beth Pollard, Amy Pollard, Donnie Wallace, Chris Sheffield, Andy Sheffield and Cynthia Pollard.
The funeral service will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday at Port Norfolk Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by her husband, Rev. Don Sheffield, with the assistance of Dr. Ector Hamrick and Rev. Ron Eason. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tom Wood will lead in this final service.
The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, this evening from 7-9 P.M. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to either Port Norfolk Baptist Church or Green Lakes Baptist Church.
