REV. P. FRANCIS QUINN

The Rev. P. Francis Quinn, 61, priest of the Diocese of Richmond, died of cardiac arrest Feb. 5, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.

He was born in Emla Co Roscommon, Ireland, and ordained a priest of the Diocese of Richmond on May 1, 1964. He served as a pastoral associate in Christ the King Parish, Norfolk, for eight years. As director of the Office of Religious Education, Tidewater, he had brief residences in Holy Trinity Parish and Sacred Heart Parish, Norfolk. Subsequently, he was named pastor of Saint Joseph's Parish, Petersburg, where he served for 14 years. He was pastor of St. Charles Church, Cape Charles, for two years prior to his retirement for medical reasons. He has resided for the last six years at Ascension Parish, Virginia Beach. In his years of ministry, Father Quinn was involved in all aspects of renewal and change in the church.

Survivors include his twin brother, Joe, of England, and brothers, Martin and Michael and a sister, Anne of Ireland, and sisters, Bernadette of Washington, D.C., and Christine and Ita of England; sisters-in-law, Angela and Marian; a brother-in-law, Patrick; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1995, at 7:30 p.m. in the Church of the Ascension. Friends may join the family from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension Tuesday evening. Interment on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1995, at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. following a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, West Washington at North Market Street, Petersburg.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Church of the Ascension Social Ministry for the support of the food bank. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
