GERALD E. SPIVEY SR.

Gerald Edwin Spivey Sr., 63, of the 1100 block of White Pine Drive, died Feb. 7, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

He was a native of Franklin, Va., and was the son of the late John Crawley Spivey and Maggie Edwards Bostic, who currently resides in Newport News. He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Supply Technician. He was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Betty P. Spivey; four sons, Gerald E. Spivey Jr. of Portsmouth, E. Jefferson Spivey of Norfolk, Lloyd A. Spivey of Chesapeake, and John R. Spivey of Chesapeake; two brothers, Wayne Bostic of Atlanta, Ga., and Tim Spivey of Florida.

The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery, by the Rev. Bradford L. Phillips. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Deep Creek United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
