Forty areas in the 1st Congressional District will receive a total of $2 million to help provide 46 police officers under the federal COPS FAST grant program, according to U.S. Rep. Eva Clayton's office.
The grants, part of the federal crime bill passed last year, aim to provide more officers for community policing.
