Gov. George F. Allen announced Monday that he will replace six Norfolk State University board members whose terms have expired.
The new board members, appointed to two-year terms, are: William H. Davis Sr. of Richmond, an education consultant to Virginia public schools; Alphonso L. Grant of Lynchburg, a Republican booster who is chief executive officer of Grant Inc.; William R. Miller III of Virginia Beach, president of Miller Enterprises Inc.; David W. Robertson of Richmond, a partner in the law firm of McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe; Robert H. Vakos of Virginia Beach, owner of the Colonial Inn Hotel; and Corey D. Walker of Charlottesville, an underwriter for State Farm Insurance Cos.
The only member up for reappointment whom Allen chose to keep on the board was the actor Tim Reid, an alumnus of Norfolk State.
The six members being replaced are Judith C. Anderson, Franklin R. Bowers, Alan G. Fleischer, Robert J. Grey Sr., Leonard L. Strelitz and Claudia A. Whitworth. by CNB
