Melvin Brown, 76, of the 500 block of Henderson St., a retired rigger, died Feb. 6, 1995, in his home.
Mr. Brown was born in Newport News, Va. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 36 years and was a member of Third Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey M. Brown; three daughters, Antoinette D. Jackson of Richmond, Va., Sherry L. Wallace of Chesapeake and Audrey Y. Brown of Portsmouth; three sons, Kevin L. Brown of Portsmouth, Terry L. Brown of Savannah, Ga., and Leonard Brown of Queens, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; an aunt, Alma Godwin; brother-in-law Wardell Weddington; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
