LANCE L. UNDERWOOD JR.

Lance L. Underwood Jr., a retired attorney, departed this life on February 8th, in the city of Virginia Beach. Mr. Underwood was born on February 19, 1913, in the city of Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Lance L. Underwood Sr. and Etta Virginia Dyson, both deceased. He served with the United States Coast Guard Reserve during World War II. He was a former Deputy Clerk of the Courts in the city of Norfolk and a former Special Assistant United States Attorney. He was a former member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Associations and a life member of the Virginia State Bar Association. He was a former member of the Princess Anne Country Club and an active member of the Broad Bay Country Club and the Eastern Shore Chapel. Mr. Underwood was the widower of Marjorie Amelia Mapp Underwood and is survived by a son, Edwin L. Underwood of Richmond, Virginia; granddaughters Stephanie A. Hobson of Virginia Beach, and Laura Ashby Underwood of Jackson, Wyoming; and grandsons John H. Hobson of Orbit, Virginia, and E. Lance Underwood Jr. of Nags Head, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 11th at Eastern Shore Chapel, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Eastern Shore Chapel Building Fund.
