With the new Republican Congress, we face a number of cuts in service we may have been taking for granted.
One of these is the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. We stand to lose such enlightening programs as ``Nature'' and ``Nova.''
It is possible that our children could grow up without Big Bird or the Cookie Monster and instead with advertisements disguised as cartoons or the Power Rangers. Still our illustrious budget-slashing, jail-building Republican governor chose as the forum for his State of the Commonwealth address WHRO-TV.
If Mr. Allen is in league with those who could cut funding for the arts, then public television and radio are not his vehicles to use. There is a word for saying one thing and doing another: hypocritical.
