JAMES O. GRAMBY

James Odell ``Jimmie'' Gramby, 78, of the 2400 block of Barre St., a retired letter carrier, died Feb. 9, 1995 at home.

Mr. Gramby was born in Norfolk. He had been retired 21 years from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years, 10 months service. He was a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church in Norfolk, the Deacon Board, senior choir, male chorus, Roy Woods Bible Class and the Brotherhood. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Retired Men's Club and several local bowling leagues.

Survivors include his wife, Alvina Smith Gramby; a daughter, Alvina G. Scott of Fairfax, Va.; grandchildren, Tracy R. Scott of Richmond, Va., and Danelle S. Ballard of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandson, Jerome C. Ballard, Jr., of Raleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Johnston Road and Chesapeake Boulevard by the Rev. Cedric Kirkland-Harris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday for viewing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
