When Dan Bachelor went to work at the Cavalier Hotel he was a local teenager, busing tables trying to earn money to buy a car. Renovations were just beginning, aimed at bringing the aging beachfront belle back to her former splendor.
Nearly 20 years later, Dan is still at the Cavalier - now as vice president and general manager. ``It's an absolutely wonderful place to work. That's why I've been here so long,'' he said of the resort landmark.
``It's easy going, family owned. The Dixon family tries to make people happy. They treat people like part of the family,'' he said.
It's the same feeling he tries to pass on to guests, too.
