The board of directors of the Isle of Wight/Smithfield Chamber of Commerce will meet at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at Smithfield Station to consider a name change.
Chamber President Alan Monette proposed at the board's meeting Jan. 25 that the name be changed to the Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce.
``Over the past three years, we have experienced a great deal of sharing and participating through the chamber by members from Windsor who steadfastly support and work hard for your Chamber of Commerce,'' Monette said in a letter to members.
He said he believes the name change would bolster the already strong support the chamber has in the Windsor community.
The meeting is open to all chamber members, and the majority vote of the members present will determine the outcome.
