Regarding ``Student objects to choices in class'' (news, Feb. 1): I am a graduating senior at ODU with a double major in psychology and sociology. I have taken two human-sexuality courses and have benefited from the experiences a great deal. I believe that all college students should take a human-sexuality course. Unfortunately, I have not had the privilege of meeting Suzette Hughes Caton, the instructor at Tidewater Community College. However, I support her human-sexuality curriculum 100 percent.
I believe the student is the one with the hidden agenda. Thousands of students drop courses every semester for one reason or another. If this student really did not have an agenda, she would have quietly dropped the course and got on with her education. In this country, students have the choice to either take a human-sexuality course or not, and I believe that future students should continue to have the choice.
The outside activities required in Suzette Hughes Caton's class, such as watching an X-rated movie, visiting a family-planning center or visiting a clinic for sexually transmitted disease can only enlighten and educate people/students about the world they live in!
