LOIS M. LASSITER

Lois M. Lassiter, 75, of the 600 block of Roosevelt Drive, a retired teacher, died Feb. 11, 1995, in Obici Hospital.

Ms. Lassiter was a native of Nansemond County, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Garris Lassiter. She was a member of East End Baptist Church. She retired from the Nansemond County School System after 40 years and received her B.S. degree from Elizabeth City State Teachers College, Elizabeth City, N.C.

She was the parent of four foster children, Willie Malone of Paterson, N.J., Laverne P. Holland, Sharon P. Hargrove and Jerel C. Hargrove, all of Suffolk. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Manley of Winton, N.C.; four brothers, John Wilson Lassiter and Vernon Lassiter, both of Suffolk, William W. Lassiter of Millburn, N.J., and Horace A. Lassiter of Silver Spring, Md.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in East End Baptist Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Mark Croston. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 12:30 p.m. today.
