Elsie Spivey Carr, 90, of 4317 Stevens Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Carr, a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, was the widow of William Holland Carr Sr. She was the oldest member of Colosse Baptist Church and was a member of the church's WMU and NABA.
Survivors include three daughters, Elsie C. Duke of Plymouth, N.C., Mary C. Butler of Carrsville and Frances C. Pettit of Suffolk; three sons, William H. Carr Jr. of Zuni, James T. Carr of Windsor and John E. Carr of Plymouth, N.C.; one sister, Louise S. Stephens of Carrsville; two sisters-in-law, Fannie Spivey of Norfolk and Bessie Spivey of Colosse; seven granddaughters; seven grandsons; four great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. Mrs. Carr was predeceased by one grandson, W. Holland Carr III, two sisters, Mary S. Barrett and Frances Spivey, and three brothers, Rodney Spivey, Melvin Spivey and James Spivey.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Colosse Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Trump and the Rev. Ronald Wiley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the Colosse Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Diabetes Association of South Hampton Roads, Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Va.
