NO UNIFORMS

I am appalled by the Allen administration's push toward allowing uniforms in public schools. It brings back visions of President Nixon's trip to Communist China, when I saw the black sea of children all decked out in their uniforms with their little red neckerchiefs strangling their ability to express themselves as individuals as they marched around like robots.

The wearing of uniforms would send the wrong message to children and parents, saying that being successful and buying nice things are bad.

I came up through the public-school system without uniforms, and the board of education was enough incentive to make us learn. Times may be changing, but uniforms are not the solution to the problem.

Has Del. Robert Tata become an advocate of the People's Republic of Virginia along with the Allen administration? I now regret voting for Allen and his push for more government.
