DORIS B. BENTON

Doris B. Benton, 77, of the 1000 block of Freeman Mill Road, a retired saleslady, died Feb. 15, 1995, at 200 W. Constance Road in Suffolk.

Mrs. Benton was born in Gates County, N.C., daughter of the late Lillian Brinkley Blanchard and Alfred Perry Blanchard. She was retired from Leggett Department Store after 20 years and was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church and the Ruth Bible Class.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Louis C. Benton; son and daughter-in-law, Howard C. and Arlene B. Benton of Suffolk; two sisters, Ruth B. Brinkley of Suffolk and Noami B. Hoffler of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a brother, Clyde B. Blanchard of Tyner, N.C.; two grandsons, Philip C. Benton and Jeffrey T. Benton, both of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas R. Edwards. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
