John R. Barnes, 93, of N.E. 8th St., died Feb. 15, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Barnes was a retired district manager for Peoples Life Insurance Co. of Portsmouth, Va. He was a former member of Elm Avenue Methodist Church, Portsmouth; past master of Centennial Masonic Lodge of Salisbury, Md.; Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies; Khedive Temple in Norfolk; and Bide-a-wee Golf Club, Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Barnes; a daughter, Betty Sue Harrell of Hampton; two sisters, Mary Barbee of Portsmouth and Ruth Marino of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Jack P. Barnes and Roy G. Barnes Sr., both of Portsmouth, and Harold K. Barnes of Lemarque, Texas; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in this area.
