A Chesapeake man wanted in connection with a carjacking on Botetourt Street last week was arrested Wednesday.
Eric L. Powell, 22, of the 1300 block of Algona Road, was charged with carjacking and use of a firearm in a felony, said police spokesman Larry Hill.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Feb. 11. Hill said a woman was sitting in her car in the 500 block of Botetourt St. waiting for a friend.
A man, whom police think was Powell, opened the passenger-side door of the car, pointed a gun at the woman and forced her out of the car. He then drove off.
The car, a 1986 BMW, was found damaged a few hours later in another part of the city, Hill said. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
