More than a ton of illegal fireworks and illegal drug paraphernalia worth about $8,000 were confiscated in Isle of Wight County this week in a raid on a store near the James River Bridge.
Detectives and deputies of the county Sheriff's Department executed search warrants Tuesday at South of the James, a large convenient store on U.S. Route 17.
W. Parker Councill, Isle of Wight Commonwealth's attorney, said Class 1 misdemeanor charges involving drug paraphernalia are pending against owner Ronald L. Dashiell and his business, and that misdemeanor charges could be placed against employees for selling the merchandise.Dashiell also could face a misdemeanor charge for illegally possessing and selling fireworks, Councill said.
