WITNESSES TO GET GREATER PROTECTION

Recognizing the importance of citizen involvement in solving major crimes, Chief of Police William F. Corvello announced Thursday that key witnesses in high-profile criminal cases will receive increased protection from the Police Department.

Corvello said in a news release that the increased security will include patrols in marked police cars of streets where witnesses live, and surveillance of those who might harass potential witnesses.

Criminal charges will be filed against individuals who persist in harassing witnesses, the chief said. by CNB
