Cox High's Kirsty Hale, the second leading scorer in state history, will play field hockey at Princeton.
Hale finished her career with 88 goals. She also holds the No. 2 spot for goals in a season with 42. She is second in each category to teammate Kim Miller, who has another season to go.
Hale played on three state championship teams at Cox, which has won six in a row.
She chose the Ivy League school for its academics.
``I think I want to study pre-med,'' she said. ``But I'm really not sure at this point.''
While her studies are her first concern, playing hockey isn't far behind.
Princeton (12-4) was the 16th-ranked team in the final NCAA coaches poll and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
``They have a good field hockey program up there, and I'm looking forward to playing,'' said Hale, who had recently narrowed her choices to Duke, Virginia and Princeton. ``It would have been nice to have played for one year with my sister (Heather at Virginia), but I really liked Princeton and the coach.''
