MARCH FOR LIFE MESSAGE

In your recent coverage of the pro-life march to the Capitol of the United States I believe your newspaper missed, or at least understated, the basic message of the pro-life March.

The many thousands participating in this effort firmly believe that life is sacred, beginning with the moment of conception and continuing throughout life. They are determined to provide a mantle of protection to our unborn who are unable to plead their own cause. America has traditionally recognized the equality of all, even the more vulnerable members of society.

Since Roe vs. Wade in 1973, 32 million children have been tragically and violently aborted. Pro-life advocate are deeply saddened by these tragic acts, and strongly oppose violence of any kind.

The efforts of the 45,000 people in the March For Life reflected their commitment and their willingness to participate at considerable personal sacrifice. The march included people of all ages from all major religions in our country. All participants shared a deep respect for life and a desire to restore protection to the unborn.

Although we hear many negative comments regarding teenagers, they were well-represented in this pro-life march. These teenagers were polite and peaceful, yet spirited. I would like to repeat a chant voiced by them, ``Pro-choice is a lie; babies do not choose to die.''
