THANKS TO LOUIS BRENNER FORUM A REAL SUCCESS

Neither cold nor rain nor any other weather conditions seem to impact on attendance at the Second Tuesday Forum, a lecture series sponsored by the Portsmouth Public Library.

More than 80 people showed up in the rain at the TCC Visual Arts Institute last Tuesday to hear a Virginia Wesleyan College professor talk about the creation of books by monks almost 2,000 years ago.

The topics of the free lectures, all of them interesting, really seem to have little bearing on local interest in the program originated by Louis Brenner, an attorney and member of the library board.

People in Portsmouth, it seems, are intellectually curious and quite interested in learning about whatever the subject. Over the two-year life of the Second Tuesday Forum, hundreds of residents have participated.

Thanks to Brenner for recognizing that Portsmouth people do enjoy expanding their knowledge and will support the forum if it is interesting. by CNB
