E. JESSE CLAUD

Edwin Jesse Claud, 54, of the 300 block of Turlington Road, a ship superintendent/operations department, died Feb. 20, 1995, in Obici Hospital.

Mr. Claud was born in Isle of Wight County and was employed with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turner Claud; a daughter, Robin Denise Witherow of Portsmouth; a son, Robert Dean Claud of Smithfield; his mother, Jessie Whitley Claud of Suffolk; a sister, Helen C. Harrell of Suffolk; a brother, Roland F. Claud of Suffolk; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Walter Claud.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. R. Stewart McCarter. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday and other times at 309 Turlington Road, and suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
