CHARLES W. OLIN

Charles William Olin, 81, of the 8500 block of Wayland St., a retired field director, died Feb. 20, 1995, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

Mr. Olin was born in Jefferson, Ohio. He retired from the American Red Cross after 15 years and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Wesleyman's Bible Class. He also retired from the Navy after 27 years, a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Martha Olin; two daughters, Ellen Shrum of Charlottesville, Va., and Sharon Love of Asheville, N.C.; two sons, Alan C. Olin of San Diego, Calif., and Timothy L. Olin of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Maurice W. Olin and Arnold J. Olin, and his parents, Jim and Bertha Olin.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Frances T. Moody. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Christ United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the residence.
