Cmdr. Hal Franklin Perrenot, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 79, of Virginia Beach, died Feb. 22, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Cmdr. Perrenot was born in Kingsville, Texas. Upon graduation from Texas A & I University, he went directly into Navy flight training in Pensacola, Fla., where he was commissioned and designated a Naval aviator in October 1938.
Before and during World War II he served in several aircraft squadrons in the Pacific, including the Aleutian Islands, Midway and in Pearl Harbor, where he experienced the Japanese attack on Dec. 7, 1941. Among his assignments after the war, he served as commanding officer of an aircraft squadron in Panama; as commanding officer of a Naval air station in Corpus Christi, Texas; two tours of duty in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C., and duty at the Air War College.
Cmdr. Perrenot was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach; National Museum of Naval Aviation; Retired Officers Association; Association of Naval Aviation; Sons of the Republic of Texas; the Texas A & I University Alumni Association; National Rifle Association; and Princess Anne Country Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Patricia P. Perrenot; two daughters, Susan K. Holtan of Wayzata, Minn., Patricia P. Townsend of Virginia Beach; a son, Hal F. Perrenot III of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Leslie Knowles Shoemake and Nancy Knowles Cupp; a grandson, Brian Lee Townsend II; and a great-grandson, Robert Todd Cupp.
A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 1995 in First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin and Father Michael Breslin. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, 18th and Arctic Ave., Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
