CHARLES H. SMALL JR.

Charles Heber Small Jr., 54, of the 1800 block of Orange Grove Road and formerly of Edenton, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 1995.

Mr. Small was born in Chowan County. The son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Anne Johnson Small, he was the owner and operator of ENO River Trucking Company and was also a cotton seed broker. A member of Edenton Presbyterian Church, he attended Hillsborough Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Harriet Bond Small; one daughter, Lynne Small Layton and her husband, Johnny Layton of Edenton; two sons, Charles H. Small III and his wife, Robin Small of Edenton and Edmund Bond Small of Hillsborough; three sisters, Mildred Ellington of Richmond, Va., Alphia Paddock of Rutherford, N.J., and Libby Matthews of Hertford; two brothers, Minton Small of Trenton, N.C., and Walter Small of Edenton; three grandchildren, Chase Small and Emily and John Layton.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, by the Rev. Richard Hildebrandt with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation. Friends may join the family at the home of Emma Bond, Virginia Road, Edenton.
