LeGrand ``Sug'' Newton Jr., 58, of the 1300 block of Barbour Drive, died Feb. 18, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Newton was born in Portsmouth and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include three daughters, Florence Augustine of Portsmouth, Janet Strozier of Maryland, Treva Vogal of California; an adopted daughter, Ramell Mason of New York City; his mother, Florence L. Newton of Portsmouth; four sisters; two brothers; six grandchildren; an aunt; nieces; nephews, including a special nephew, Herbert Gibbs; cousins; in-laws; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1p.m. Saturday in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeremiah Cuffee. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family will be at 2107 Evergreen Place, Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
