Erastus ``Jack'' Bobbitt Jr., 75, of the 1000 block of Portsmouth Blvd., a retired pipefitter, died Feb. 21, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Bobbitt was born in Nash County, N.C., and was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 28 years. He was the widower of Malissie N. Bobbitt and a member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville in Portsmouth.
Survivors include a son, Fred L. Bobbitt of Portsmouth; five sisters, Althelia Powell of Scotland Neck, N.C., Yvonne Fenner of Newport News, Geraldine Watson, Joyce Person and Dorothy Bobbitt, all of Enfield, N.C.; two brothers, Willie Bobbitt of Whitakers, N.C. and Wayvous Bobbitt of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; two sisters-in-law, Clyde Bobbitt and Virginia Bobbitt; three brothers-in-law, Harold Person, Rufus Watson and Ernest Fenner; and a host of friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at noon Saturday. The family will be at the residence and also at 107 Phillips Ave., Portsmouth. They will assemble at the residence for the funeral service.
