At the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival VI at Williamsburg Marriott, you'll find exhibits with hundreds of quilts and wall hangings, workshops, lectures and a fashion show of quilted clothing. Step on over to the Williamsburg Lodge and try the Mid-Atlantic Wearable Art Festival on for size, with exhibits, seminars and workshops. The Williamsburg Vintage Fashion and Jewelry Show at Patrick Henry Inn rounds out the festival with a display of clothing, textiles and jewelry. Admission: $7 (good for all shows, all days). There's a free shuttle bus between the shows. Call 220-3500.

Hailed as one of the year's best films, the debate continues about what made Pauline Parker (the shy, plain one) and Juliet Humme (the beautiful, outgoing one) do it. The 1950s murder case is one of the most famous in the history of New Zealand. Now it is an intriguing film. The two girls, in any case, were hardly ``Heavenly Creatures'' - at least, not in the usual sense. Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet have the title roles. The two girls worship tenor Mario Lanza and each other but friendship leads to obsession. Computer-generatated visual effects are used to suggest the imaginary world into which they sometimes wander. Oscar nominated for its screenplay.
