DEFENDS DR. FOSTER

I denounce the critics of President Clinton's appointment of Dr. Henry Foster Jr. to the post of surgeon general. It seems the point the Republicans are making is that Dr. Foster performed abortions and sterilizations. As a doctor primarily for women, he did exactly what he was trained for - to perform services that pertain to women (perfectly legal services, I might add; services that could have saved many women much grief and serious complications).

If a dentist were appointed to the post of surgeon general, would he have been criticized for tooth extractions?

Dr. Foster deserves to be accepted.
