DOGS BEFORE PEOPLE?

On Feb. 16, The Virginian-Pilot published an editorial advising the Republican party to abandon its anti-abortion platform, citing the political inexpediency of that ``extreme'' position. A second editorial condemned the practice of euthanizing noncompetitive racing dogs and urged Governor Allen to sign a bill banning greyhound racing in the state.

Is it now the editorial position of The Virginian Pilot that while it is morally unacceptable for ``. . . tens of thousands of these magnificent and sensitive creatures (greyhounds) to die each year for our amusement,'' it is somehow morally acceptable that more than a million developing human lives are terminated each year for our convenience?
