James Columbus Covil, of the 19000 block of Track Lane, a truck driver, died Feb. 21, 1995, in Hampton Veterans Hospital, Hampton, Va.
Mr. Covil was born in Hyde County, N.C. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Capeville.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Covil; five daughters, Linda Taylor, Brenda Oliver and Katie Gaines of Norfolk, Va., Pauline Hunt of Boston, Mass., and Teryl Mims of Forest City, N.C.; six sons, Richard Covil, James Covil Jr., and Anthony M. Covil of Boston, Mass., Reginald Covil of St. Augustine, Fla., Shawn Davis of Norfolk, Va., and Marcus Blue of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Joyce Covil of Portsmouth, Va., and Alma Hoggard of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Willie Covil and Darnell Covil of Philadelphia; 23 grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Valfreda Douglas and Latricia Cottrell of Norfolk, Va., and Latesia Flagler of Wildwood, Fla.; and three stepsons, William Douglas of Norfolk, Va., Eugene Flagler of St. Augustine, Fla., and Lindsay Haywood of Newport News, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Westmunden, Chesapeake, Va., by the Rev. John Ashby. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will be at 330 London Blvd., Portsmouth, Va.
