Kate E. Matthias, 71, of the 1000 block of Norview Ave., a homemaker, died Feb. 23, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Matthias was born in Edenton, N.C., and was the widow of Robert D. Matthias. She was a member of Norview Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, V. Ann Mauldin of Norfolk and Kay DuVall of Chesapeake; a son, Robert Matthias of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Martha C. Meeks of Virginia Beach and Agnes Sliger of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Charles Mauldin, James Mauldin, Clara Mauldin, Tracey DuVall, Frank W. DuVall Jr., Suzanne Kurtich and Katie Embry; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, James Dale Matthias.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Norview Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Vernon Murray and the Rev. Clyde Johnson. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Norview Presbyterian Church.
