HORN CONTROLS ARE HARD TO FIND IN RESPONSE TO CONSUMER DEMAND, THE HORN IS FINDING ITS WAY BACK TO THE CENTER POSITION.

MEMO: [For a complete copy of the story, see microfilm for this date.]

Above, Alicia Herr finds it difficult to locate the horn control,

which, in many new models, is no longer in the center of the

steering wheel. At top, the horn control on this 1955 Chevrolet was

easily accessible by a push anywhere along the chrome trim.

Steve Tonelson, like many connoisseurs of antique card, finds the

central position of the horn control on his pre-air bag 1955

Chevrolet convenient.

CHRYSLER CORP.

Some of the newest-model cars feature the horn control back in the

center of the steering wheel. This 1996 Chrysler minivan goes on

sale this spring.
