MILES OF TILES IN EVERY ROOM OF SHOWHOUSE

THE TILES GO on for miles in the Tile Showhouse, a 4,200-square-foot-house in which ceramic tile is used in every room. The Florida home, which is inhabited by a couple and their four children, was decorated by the Tile Promotion Board to show how practical, versatile and dazzling tile can be.

Tile is used in this home in typical ways, such as on counter tops and splash-backs. And in atypical ways - for instance, to frame a piece of art and to create an Old World-style ``rug'' in the living/dining room.

You can glimpse this Taj Mahal of tile in a slick booklet offered free by the promotion board, which represents tile manufacturers and associations. Tips on installation, maintenance and design accompany pictures of each room. For a copy of ``The Art of Ceramic Tile,'' call (800) 994-8453. ILLUSTRATION: Color photo
